Chinese energy company Beijing Jingneng announced plans to invest $ 3 billion to build a combined solar and wind power plant and use hydrogen as an energy reserve. The 5 gigawatt power plant will be built in Inner Mongolia. Previously, China National Nuclear Corporation planned to invest US $ 2.5 billion in the same area to build 1 gigawatt solar facilities and 2 gigawatt wind farms.

Beijing Jingneng said that the selected location is located at the junction of Mongolia, Shaanxi, and Ningxia. It has an excellent geographical position, "rich in mineral resources, convenient in transportation, and broad in development prospects", including the rapid growth of coal mines, chemical industry and LNG industry.

The report said: "The modern energy industry system based on multi-dimensional transformation is taking shape. It is an important hub that connects the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with Shaanxi and Ningxia and extends to the southwest." Construction will begin in March 2020 and is scheduled for completion in 2021. At full capacity, the energy complex hopes to produce 400,000 to 500,000 tons of hydrogen per year.

In addition to the green hydrogen plant, Beijing Jingneng also plans to build a natural gas pipeline, an agricultural logistics center, an industrial steam facility and a quartz sand processing plant. According to data released by China's National Energy Administration in January, China's solar capacity has grown by 17% in 2019. Editor / Huang Lijun
