At 9:20 a.m. on December 29, 2022, D8937 multiple units slowly drove out of Yinchuan Station in Ningxia to Lanzhou City in Gansu Province, marking the official opening of the 431 km Yinchuan Lanzhou high-speed railway.
Yinchuan Lanzhou High speed Railway starts from Yinchuan City, Ningxia, in the north and ends at Lanzhou City, Gansu Province in the south, with a total length of 431km and a design speed of 250km/h. Among them, the section from Yinchuan to Zhongwei is 212km, which was put into operation on December 29, 2019; The section from Zhongwei to Lanzhou is 219 kilometers, 46 kilometers in Ningxia. The construction started in June 2017. At present, the project construction, joint commissioning and joint test have been completed.
The Zhongwei Lanzhou Section of Yinchuan Lanzhou High speed Railway opened for operation this time starts from Zhongwei South Station, passes through Zhongwei City of Ningxia, Baiyin City and Lanzhou City of Gansu Province, and connects to Lanzhou West Station of Lanzhou Xinjiang High speed Railway. The total length of the line is 219 kilometers, and the design speed is 250 kilometers per hour. There are 7 stations in the whole line, including Zhongwei South Station, Beitan Station, Pingchuan West Station, Jingyuan North Station, Baiyin South Station, Qinwangchuan Station and Lanzhou West Station. Among them, Zhongwei South Station and Lanzhou West Station are existing stations and others are new stations.

At the initial stage of Yinchuan Lanzhou High speed Railway's operation, the railway department will arrange Yinchuan Lanzhou passenger trains according to the daily line, weekend line and peak line. Up to 15 pairs of EMUs will be operated every day, including 4 pairs from Lanzhou to Yinchuan, 1 pair from Lanzhou to Zhongwei, and the fastest trains from Lanzhou to Yinchuan and Zhongwei will be 2 hours 56 minutes and 1 hour 42 minutes respectively, which will be 5 hours 26 minutes and 4 hours 04 minutes shorter than before the opening.Editor/Ma Xue
