After careful planting and maintenance by construction personnel, 500000 seedlings of Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix chinensis have successfully rooted along the Tarim Desert Highway, adding new barriers to the ecological protection system of the highway.

In order to resist quicksand erosion and protect road traffic safety, in 2005, PetroChina Tarim Oilfield, together with the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, carried out technical breakthroughs, innovatively adopted bitter salt water drip irrigation technology, and built 436 kilometers of ecological protective forest belt along the road.

Affected by the growth cycle of trees and extreme desert environments, the original protective forests have gradually experienced problems such as plant aging and degradation, frequent occurrence of pests and diseases, and increased wind and sand erosion. Starting from April 2026, Tarim Oilfield officially launched the restoration work of protective forest seedlings, continuously building a solid ecological protection barrier for desert roads.Editor/Gong Ziwei
