The governments of Russia and Myanmar have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear technology. Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and Union of Myanmar Minister of Science and Technology Myo Thein Kyaw signed the intergovernmental agreement.

The agreement was signed at the Nuclear Technology Information Center in Yangon, Myanmar, a joint project between Myanmar's Ministry of Science and Technology and Russia's Nuclear Power Corporation. Myanmar Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Administrative Council and senior general Min Aung Hlaing said that the agreement is not only a cooperation in small nuclear power plants, but also a cooperation in the application of nuclear technology in multiple fields, which will promote the social and economic development of Myanmar.

Both sides believe that the intergovernmental agreement will strengthen Russia-Myanmar relations and lay a solid foundation for further cooperation.
