This marks the completion of the milestone node of the largest hydropower station under construction in Angola, and officially entered the construction stage of the main dam project.

Liu Huailiang emphasized that after the completion of the hydropower station, the average annual power generation will reach 856.6 billion GWh, and the annual greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by about 7.2 million tons. The income from power generation will also be used for other projects such as infrastructure construction, mining and other natural resource development. After the formation of the reservoir area, it will also have the functions of peak regulation and flood control, and will greatly improve the conditions for water resource utilization.
The Angola Kaikai Hydropower Project is located in the middle section of the Kwanza River, the largest river in Angola, about 230 kilometers away from the capital Luanda. It is known as the Three Gorges Project in Africa. The project was signed and landed under the framework of high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road and the deepening of China-Africa production capacity cooperation. 2023 is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Angola.
