Recently, the main project of Tibet Zhala Hydropower Station officially began construction, equipped with the first set of 500000 kilowatt high head impulse generator units, marking a crucial step in China's scientific and technological demonstration and application of high head, large capacity, impulse, and deep shaft hydroelectric generator units. It also marks the official start of construction of the main project of Datang Tibet Zhala Hydropower Station, which carries this unit.
Zhala Hydropower Station is the sixth stage in the development of two reservoirs and seven levels in the Yuqu River Basin. It utilizes a natural drop of 60 kilometers with a large bend, and forms a water head of nearly 700 meters by cutting and straightening the bend. It has engineering and technical characteristics such as high water head, large capacity, impact type, and deep vertical shaft, and is a supporting project for China's development of large capacity impact water turbine generator units. As the owner unit, China Datang actively organizes research and research on project design, equipment manufacturing, material technology, operation and maintenance, and high-altitude engineering construction upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. It has carried out 11 research topics and focuses on tackling key technologies in the manufacturing of impulse turbines.
At present, the world's largest impact turbine unit has a single unit capacity of 423000 kilowatts, and the maximum power per unit capacity in China is 150000 kilowatts. The two impulse water turbine generator units with a single unit capacity of 500000 kW in the project will become the world's largest impulse water turbine generator units with a single unit capacity, which will not only realize the localization of completely independent intellectual property rights in the whole industry chain, but also reach the Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation's advanced level of unit efficiency, which will effectively improve the overall level of China's impulse water turbine generator units, and improve Sinohydro's hydropower development capacity Realize the independent and controllable development of key core technologies in hydropower equipment, and play an important role in leading, demonstrating, and promoting.
