In the context of accelerating the realization of carbon neutrality, nuclear power has attracted much attention in recent years. In 2023, seven nuclear power plant projects have made significant progress. In 2023, Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Unit 3 has completed two dynamics: grid connection and operation; At the same time, the environmental assessment report for the site selection phase of Units 5 and 6 of the Fangchenggang nuclear Power plant has also been approved.

CGN Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 connected to the grid

At 20:29 on January 10, CGN Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3, the first "Hualong One" nuclear power unit in western China, was successfully connected to the grid for the first time, marking that the unit has the power generation capacity and has taken another key step toward the goal of commercial operation. As the first nuclear power plant in western China and ethnic minority areas, two units of Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant Phase I have been put into commercial operation in 2016, and have accumulated more than 100 billion KWH of clean energy electricity online. Unit 3 and Unit 4 of the second phase of the project adopt China's independent third-generation nuclear power technology "Hualong One", and are advancing the construction in an orderly manner.

The Environmental Impact statement (site selection phase) of Sanao Nuclear Power Plant Phase II was approved

On February 15, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the approval of the environmental impact statement (site selection stage) of the second phase of the Zhejiang Sanao nuclear Power Plant of CGN. The second phase of Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Plant (Units 3 and 4) of CGN is located in Sanao Village, Xiaguan Town, Cangnan County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is planned to build two Hualong One technology fusion program nuclear power units and their supporting facilities. The first phase of the project (Units 1 and 2) has begun construction, and the second phase is the expansion of the nuclear power project. The site selection of the project is compatible with the current local master plan, water resource utilization plan, coastal environmental function zoning and Marine function zoning.

Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 4 starts construction

On March 22, Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 4, which is invested and controlled by China Nuclear Power Group (stock code: 601985), poured the first tank of concrete (FCD) on the nuclear island, marking the full start of the construction of the second phase of Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant. After Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 4 became the Party's 20th Congress, it was also the first nuclear power unit started in China after the national "Two Sessions". After the two units of the second phase of the project are completed and put into operation, the total installed capacity of Sanmen nuclear power will reach 5 million kilowatts, and the annual electricity generation can reach 40 billion kilowatt-hours, which is equivalent to the annual emission reduction of 30 million tons of carbon dioxide.

Guangxi Fangchenggang nuclear power Unit 3 put into operation to generate electricity

On March 25, Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant No. 3, the first Hualong One nuclear power unit in western China, officially put into operation to generate electricity, which is the third Hualong One unit put into operation in China, marking the orderly progress of Hualong One batch construction.

Lianjiang Nuclear power Project phase I project 2 unit started

On April 15, Unit 2 of Guangdong Lianjiang Nuclear Power Project started the drilling operation of the first foundation pit supporting pile, marking the official start of the nuclear island excavation work of Unit 2 of the first phase of Guangdong Lianjiang Nuclear Power Project. Unit 1 and Unit 2 of the Lianjiang Nuclear Power Project in Guangdong has a single unit capacity of 1250 MW and an investment of 38.9 billion yuan. After the two units are completed and put into operation, the annual power generation will be about 20.367 billion KWH.

Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4 starts construction

On April 22, approved by the National Nuclear Safety Administration, the State Power Investment Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4 poured the first tank of concrete (FCD) on the nuclear island, so that the Haiyang nuclear power project has fully entered a new stage of unit operation, engineering construction, and comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy. Unit 3 and Unit 4 of Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant Phase II adopt independently designed and domestically produced CAP1000 technology, with a single unit rated capacity of 1.253 million kilowatts, Unit 3 has been started on July 7, 2022, and two units are scheduled to be fully operational in 2027. By then, the total installed capacity of the Haiyang nuclear power Base will exceed 5 million kilowatts, and the annual power generation will reach 40 billion kilowatt-hours.

The environmental impact report of Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant Units 5 and 6 (site selection stage) was approved

On June 7, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued an approval on the environmental impact report of Unit 5 and Unit 6 of Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant (site selection stage). Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant is located in Guangpo Town, Gangkou District, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is planned to expand two Hualong One nuclear power units and supporting facilities on the basis of the existing four units. The site selection of the project is compatible with the current local master plan, water resource utilization plan and coastal environmental function zoning.

Zhejiang Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1, 2 Environmental impact report (site selection stage) publicity

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment document of the construction project on June 20, 2023, the environmental impact report of Unit 1 and Unit 2 of the Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant in Zhejiang Province (site selection stage) is being publicized. Zhejiang Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant is located in the southern edge of Nantian Island, Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province. It is planned to build six Hualong One million-kilowatt pressurized water reactor nuclear power units with unified plant planning and phased construction. The construction cycle of Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Zhejiang Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant is 60 months, with an interval of 10 months between the two units, of which unit 1 is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2028.

Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 and 2 Environmental impact report (site selection stage) was approved

On June 25, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the approval of the environmental impact report of Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant units 1 and 2 (site selection stage), Environmental Review (2023) No. 58. Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant is located in Jiangshan Town, Fangcheng District, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is planned to build two CAP1000 pressurized water reactor nuclear power units and supporting facilities. The site selection of the project is compatible with the current local master plan, water resource utilization plan and coastal environmental function zoning. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
