On January 28, the groundbreaking ceremony of Datang Danzhou 1.2 million kW offshore wind power project was held in Yangpu, Danzhou, Hainan, ringing the drum of the war for all forces to serve the national major strategy and build Hainan Free Trade Port, and also opening a new chapter in the high-quality development of green energy in China Datang.

Liu Xiaoming, deputy Party secretary and governor of Hainan Province, announced the start of the project. Zhang Chuanjiang, member of the Party Group and Deputy General Manager of China Datang, Wang Dapeng, Deputy Director of the New Energy and Renewable Energy Department of the National Energy Administration, and Zou Guang, Secretary of the Danzhou Municipal Party Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Zhao Peijian, Deputy Director of the Department of Sea and Island Management of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and Chen Huaibei, Deputy Director of the South China Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, attended the ceremony.

Danzhou 1.2 million kW offshore wind power project is the first batch of offshore wind power projects approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and approved by the State in Hainan Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The total investment of the project is 14.6 billion yuan, it is planned to install 120 wind turbines with a capacity of 10 MW, and support the construction of 2 220 kV offshore booster stations and 1 onshore centralized control center. The first phase of 600,000 kW will be put into operation in June 2025. After the project is fully invested, it can provide 3.66 billion KWH of clean electricity for Hainan Province every year, save 1.1 million tons of standard coal, and reduce emissions of 2.87 million tons of carbon dioxide, 23,000 tons of sulfur dioxide and 13,000 tons of nitrogen oxides.

The project fully relies on the digital technology intelligence platform, and is the first offshore wind power project in China that is based on BIM data and supported by artificial intelligence to achieve intelligent management of the whole life cycle. It is also the first onshore switching station, offshore booster station, the first offshore wind power project to achieve zero carbon emissions and the first large-scale application of suction barrel jacket foundation in the deep silt layer sea area in China, which will provide important technical support for the future development of offshore wind power resources in China.

As a state-owned super-large energy enterprise directly managed by the central government, China Datang is committed to building a world-class energy supplier of "green, low-carbon, multi-energy complementary, efficient collaboration and digital wisdom" and a leading enterprise in the construction of beautiful China, deeply integrating into the construction of "three polar Belt and one district" in Hainan, and continuously increasing investment in Qiong. Datang Hainan Energy Development Company has developed into the largest clean energy supplier of Hainan Free Trade Port. The project started this time is the largest offshore wind power project in Datang, China. China Datang will take this start as a new starting point to deepen cooperation, join hands to create a new model of central-local cooperation, and contribute "Datang strength" for Hainan Province to become a national "double carbon" outstanding student.
