On January 31, GE, a leading global energy technology company, announced that it has been selected by Abukuma South Wind Power LLC as the supplier of the Abukuma South wind Farm in the Iwaki City and Hirono Town areas of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. This decision signifies that GE will provide 28 3.2-103 wind turbines for the wind farm, making an important contribution to the development of renewable energy in Japan.

The Abukuma South wind farm is being built in an area affected by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. The disaster has brought serious ecological and environmental problems to the region and prompted local governments and businesses to actively seek renewable energy solutions to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote sustainable development.

The project, with a total installed capacity of approximately 90MW, will supply power to Abukuma South Wind PowerLLC, further increasing its share of renewable energy. Through this project, GE and Abukuma South Wind PowerLLC are working together to achieve Fukushima Prefecture's renewable energy goals.

The project is the second collaboration between GE Vernova and Cosmo Eco Power in Japan. This agreement not only helps promote renewable energy development in Fukushima Prefecture, but also aligns with the Japanese government's goal of meeting 100 percent of Fukushima's energy needs with renewable energy by 2040. In addition, the project will contribute to Japan's goal of increasing the share of renewable energy in the national electricity mix from 36 percent to 38 percent by 2030.

Through the partnership with Abukuma South Wind PowerLLC, GE will continue to leverage its expertise and experience in renewable energy technologies to positively contribute to the global energy transition. This cooperation will not only promote the development of renewable energy in Fukushima Prefecture, but also provide momentum for the growth of the global renewable energy market.
