On January 31, GE, a leading global energy technology company, announced that it has been selected by Abukuma South Wind Power LLC as the supplier of the Abukuma South wind Farm in the Iwaki City and Hirono Town areas of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. This decision signifies that GE will provide 28 3.2-103 wind turbines for the wind farm, making an important contribution to the development of renewable energy in Japan.

The Abukuma South wind farm is being built in an area affected by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. The disaster has brought serious ecological and environmental problems to the region and prompted local governments and businesses to actively seek renewable energy solutions to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote sustainable development.

The project, with a total installed capacity of approximately 90MW, will supply power to Abukuma South Wind PowerLLC, further increasing its share of renewable energy. The project is the second collaboration between GE Vernova and Cosmo Eco Power in Japan.
