Plug Power, a global leader in integrated solutions for the green hydrogen economy, has completed the first fill of liquid green hydrogen at its production facility in Woodbine, Georgia, and shipped it directly to a customer site. The achievement comes a week after the plant officially opened. A Plug cryogenic trailer is filled with liquid hydrogen for use by Walmart, Amazon and Home Depot. That's enough liquid hydrogen to fuel 3,216 forklifts a day.

Currently, Plug operates eight 5MW electrolyzers at its facility in Georgia, the largest proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer in the United States. The plant can produce up to 15 tons of liquid green hydrogen per day to serve customers in the eastern United States. The entire process, from production to filling, is completed in about four days, and trailers will now deliver the green hydrogen to customers through Plug's extensive logistics network.

Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug, said: "The first delivery of our green hydrogen molecule marks an important milestone in the green hydrogen economy. If you want to see the hydrogen ecosystem of the future, it's here today at Plug. There is no doubt that Plug is showing the future with real products and large-scale projects."

"We took a big step forward today to provide our customers with cost-effective green hydrogen." Sanjay Shrestha, general manager and chief strategy officer of Plug Energy Solutions, said: "This is a vindication of our investment in building our network of production plants, a bet on our customers for more sustainable solutions."

The company's advanced cryogenic and liquefaction capabilities are an integral part of its operations, enabling green hydrogen to be safely and efficiently transported to customers. Plug's liquid hydrogen tankers have a maximum gross weight of 80,000 pounds (36.287 tons). About eight gas tube trailers are needed to transport the same amount of gas hydrogen as one liquid hydrogen tank truck.

PlugPlug is building an end-to-end green hydrogen ecosystem, from production, storage, and delivery to energy production, to help customers achieve their business goals and decarbonize their economies. In creating the first commercially viable market for hydrogen fuel cell technology, the company has deployed more than 60,000 fuel cell systems and more than 180 fueling stations, more than any other company in the world, and is the largest buyer of liquid hydrogen.

Plug plans to operate green hydrogen highways in North America and Europe, where it has built a Gigafactory to produce electrolyzers and fuel cells, and is developing multiple green hydrogen production plants with the goal of putting them into commercial operation by the end of 2028. Plug provides green hydrogen solutions directly to customers and applies them through joint venture partners in a variety of environments, including material handling, electric vehicles, power generation and industrial applications.
