Recently, a number of provinces in China have released the government work report for 2024, of which Shandong, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian, six important provinces in the development of nuclear power, have clarified the nuclear power development plan for the New Year. These plans involve 11 important nuclear power projects, including Lianjiang nuclear power plant, Shidaowan nuclear power plant and Jinqimen nuclear power plant. The specific plan is as follows:

Shandong Province plans to start construction of the first phase of the expansion of Shidaowan Nuclear Power plant in 2024, which will further enhance the province's nuclear power generation capacity and contribute to the optimization of the energy structure and green and low-carbon development.

Zhejiang Province has made it clear that it will ensure that new projects such as the Jinqimen nuclear power plant are fully operational by the end of October 2024. The move will not only promote the development of the province's nuclear power industry, but also bring new growth points to the local economy.

In the nuclear power development plan for 2024, Liaoning Province stressed the importance of steadily promoting the construction of Xudabu and Zhuanghe nuclear power bases, and plans to accelerate the construction of wind-fire nuclear storage integrated energy bases, and make every effort to build a strong province of clean energy. This will help enhance the province's competitiveness in the field of clean energy and promote the transformation and upgrading of the energy structure.

Guangdong has made remarkable progress in the development of nuclear power. In 2023, the province has started the construction of Lufeng Nuclear Power Unit 6, and Huizhou Taiping Ling Nuclear Power Phase II has also been approved. By 2024, the province will continue to promote the construction of Huizhou Taiping Ling Nuclear Power Plant, Lianjiang Nuclear Power Plant phase I and Lufeng Nuclear Power Plant units 5 and 6. The completion and operation of these projects will further enhance the power supply capacity of Guangdong Province and promote sustainable economic and social development.

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will put Fangchenggang Hongsha Nuclear Power Unit 3 into operation in 2023. In 2024, the area plans to put into operation Fangchenggang Hongsha Nuclear Power Plant No. 4 unit, and promote the "green electricity into Guangxi" transmission channel, Fangchenggang White Dragon nuclear power plant and other preliminary work. This will help improve Guangxi's energy self-sufficiency and provide strong support for local economic development.

In the nuclear power development plan of Fujian Province in 2024, it is clearly proposed that the construction of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Unit 1-4 and Ningde Nuclear Power Unit 5-6 will be promoted. The implementation of these projects will further consolidate Fujian's leading position in the field of nuclear power and inject new impetus into the optimization of the local energy structure and economic development.

In general, these provinces have emphasized the principles of safety, efficiency and environmental protection in their nuclear power development plans, and are committed to promoting the development and application of clean energy. With the completion and operation of these nuclear power projects, China's nuclear power industry will usher in broader prospects for development, and make greater contributions to ensuring national energy security, promoting economic and social development and responding to global climate change.
