On the morning of March 1, 2024, the construction of Taranta Sports City, undertaken by China Road and Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd., began. The sports city is located in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, with a total planned land area of 45.64 hectares. It mainly includes a 60000 seat FIFA standard professional football stadium, which will serve as the main stadium for the 2027 Africa Cup opening and closing ceremonies.

"This will reshape Kenya's national sports image," Kenyan President William Luto said in a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, stating that the Taranta Sports City project is of great significance and will be another landmark building in Kenya.

"By using renewable energy, most of the trees on the project site will be preserved." Luto praised the green and environmentally friendly design concept of Chinese enterprises. The reporter learned that the project will maximize the use of natural lighting and ventilation, reduce resource consumption, and fully utilize renewable energy such as solar energy.

"The Maasai shield, which symbolizes the spirit of the Maasai people, is the main design element." Liu Chenghui, Deputy General Manager of China Road and Bridge Kenya Office, introduced that the company fully introduces Kenya's unique culture in the design, achieving the integration of cultural elements and facade systems.
