On February 29, the national "14th Five-Year" power development planning project - Hainan 500 kV main grid project started construction, it is China's first 500 kV provincial digital grid project, after completion, China's mainland will achieve 500 kV and above ultra-high voltage grid full coverage. The 500 kV and above ultra-high voltage power grid is the main network of connecting the power grids of various provinces and cities in China, which not only realizes long-distance and large-capacity power transmission, but also has greater economic value.

With a total investment of about 5.7 billion yuan, Hainan 500 kV main grid project will build three 500 kV substations and a total length of about 838 kilometers of 500 kV transmission lines. The project starts on the Changjiang River, passing through 14 cities and counties such as Haikou, Sanya and Baisha, and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2025.

According to reports, after the project is completed and put into operation, Hainan's largest power transmission capacity will reach more than 3.5 million kilowatts, ensuring the electricity demand for the accelerated construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, and driving the safe delivery and consumption of new energy such as large-capacity nuclear power and large-scale offshore wind power.

The project will be built into the country's first provincial digital power grid, equivalent to the power system operation of the "super three-dimensional brain", can reduce the workload of human labor operation and maintenance by 80%, equipment operation time by 95%, from grid planning, design, construction to operation and maintenance maintenance, risk analysis and other processes of digital control.

It is expected that by 2035, Hainan will build a total of seven 500 kV digital substations, and further increase the proportion of cross-provincial clean energy consumption in Hainan. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
