On March 4, 2024, at the construction site of Qingyuan Road Station on Wuxi Metro Line 6, an iconic steel cage was successfully poured into the groove, symbolizing the official start of civil construction for the entire line. This marks another milestone in the construction of Wuxi Metro, opening a new chapter.

The total length of Wuxi Metro Line 6 is about 24.26 kilometers, with a total of 18 stations, like a giant dragon crossing the city's network. As the main force of construction, China Railway First Bureau has undertaken the key part of the 6th section project, covering Hefeng Road Station, Qingyan Road Station, Qingyuan Road Station, and three sections between them.

The Qingyuan Road Station, which took the lead in construction this time, is the fourth station on the entire line. Its underground two-level island structure design is full of modernity. The standard section of the station has a width of 20.8 meters, while the end well section has been extended to 25.1 meters, and the excavation depth of the foundation pit is between 16.1 and 17.4 meters. To ensure construction quality and safety, the open cut method was adopted, and the thickness of the underground continuous wall reached 0.8 meters, totaling 68 pieces.

To ensure the smooth construction of the first underground wall, the project team of China Railway First Bureau has demonstrated outstanding organizational skills and professional standards. They are proactive and carefully arrange various preparations for resuming work and production, coordinate resources from all parties, and scientifically allocate manpower, machinery, and materials. After a series of efforts, the necessary conditions for commencement and expert review of various construction plans have been quickly completed, laying a solid foundation for the construction of the first connecting wall.

At present, the municipal relocation construction of the first 12 stations of Wuxi Metro Line 6 is in full swing, showing a busy and orderly scene. This subway line not only connects the Economic Development Zone, Binhu District, Liangxi District, and Xinwu District of Wuxi City, but also forms transfers with multiple subway lines and city area lines throughout the Wuxi network, greatly facilitating the travel of citizens.

The areas along Wuxi Metro Line 6 are densely populated with high-tech industries, abundant cultural and tourism resources, and prosperous commercial facilities. In the future, its completion and opening to traffic will strongly support the construction of functional areas along the line, injecting new vitality and momentum into the development of Wuxi's science and technology innovation belt, economic axis, and cultural and commercial district.
