Russian President Vladimir Putin recently attended the concrete pouring ceremony of the first bin of Unit 7 of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant via video link. This important moment not only marks the official start of the construction of the entire new unit, but also highlights Russia's ambitions in the field of nuclear energy.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, the concrete of the first chamber was accurately injected into the foundation of the building housing the VVER-1200 nuclear reactor, a process that symbolized a solid foundation and a solid beginning for the construction of the new unit. In a warm speech delivered by video link, President Putin expressed his heartfelt thanks and high respect to all the workers involved in the construction, and stressed the importance of nuclear energy for Russia's energy strategy and national security.

The Leningrad Nuclear Power plant is located in the scenic city of Sosnovybor, Leningrad Oblast. since its completion, the nuclear power plant has been providing a steady stream of clean energy for Russia and the surrounding region with its efficient and stable operation. At present, the nuclear power plant has been operating four generating units with a total installed capacity of nearly 4.4 GW, which has made great contributions to the region's economic development and people's lives.

It is worth mentioning that in January this year, Rosatom announced an exciting news: the Russian Federal Agency for Environmental Protection, Technology and Atomic Energy Supervision has officially authorized the construction of new units of the Leningrad Nuclear power Plant's nuclear reactors No. 7 and 8. This decision is not only a full affirmation of Russia's nuclear energy technology, but also injected new impetus to the optimization and upgrading of Russia's energy structure.

The Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant's units 7 and 8 are scheduled to be put into operation in 2030 and 2032, respectively. At that time, the two advanced nuclear reactors will bring more clean energy to Russia, promote the sustainable development of the regional economy, and further enhance Russia's position and influence in the global nuclear energy field.

With the continuous progress of the construction of new units, we have reason to believe that the future Leningrad nuclear power plant will make a more positive contribution to Russia's energy security and environmental protection with its strong power generation capacity and efficient operating performance. At the same time, it will also provide a strong support for Russia to demonstrate the advanced nature and reliability of its nuclear energy technology on the international stage.
