On March 22, 2024, a photo exhibition of China-Africa practical cooperation in jointly building the Belt and Road with the theme of "mountains and seas are not far away" was grand opened at Nairobi Railway Station of Mombasa-Nairobi Railway in Kenya. The exhibition carefully selected relevant pictures such as China-Africa practical cooperation projects and livelihood projects, vividly demonstrating the fruits of cooperation between the two countries under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The photo exhibition aims to further consolidate the high-quality cooperation consensus between China and Africa on jointly building the Belt and Road and promote the process of jointly building a China-Africa community with a shared future. More than 50 government officials, business representatives, experts, scholars and project employees from China and Kenya gathered together to participate in the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition. They spoke highly of the achievements of the Belt and Road cooperation.

Xu Jianping, director of the Department of Regional Opening up of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, said at the opening ceremony that over the past 11 years, the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Africa has developed vigorously, and China is willing to work with African countries to turn the needs of countries jointly building the Belt and Road into reality step by step through the joint efforts of governments, enterprises and people from all walks of life.

As a flagship project of the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Kenya, the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway is the first railway built by Kenya since its independence. It is a modern railway built with Chinese standards, Chinese technology and Chinese equipment. Since its completion seven years ago, the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway has created nearly 50,000 jobs for Kenya. According to experts' estimates, the project contributes more than 2% to Kenya's GDP.

Philip Mayenga, general manager of Kenya Railways, said in his speech that the Belt and Road Initiative has not only changed Kenya, but also other countries in Africa. A series of infrastructure projects, such as Mombasa Port and Mombasa Railway, have brought economic growth to Kenya and made the connection between Kenyans closer.

The photo exhibition is jointly presented by China Economic Information Agency, Xinhua News Agency's Africa branch, China's Belt and Road Network and China Communications Construction Group. The exhibition lasts for one month. With "hard connectivity", "soft connectivity" and "heart connectivity" as the three core units, the exhibition comprehensively displays the achievements of China-Africa cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative from multiple perspectives through more than 30 carefully selected pictures.Editor/Wang Tian
