On March 26th, the Department of Commerce of Jilin Province signed strategic cooperation framework agreements with Liaoning Port Group Co., Ltd., Changchun Xinglong Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Changchun International Land Port Development Company, and Liaoning Port Co., Ltd. in Changchun to promote deep cooperation in expanding opening up and jointly promote the construction of the Northeast Sea Land Corridor.

According to the agreement, all parties involved in the cooperation will fully leverage their advantages in policy, location, service, and resources, and explore deep cooperation paths in optimizing transportation services, accelerating the construction of inland ports, promoting mutual recognition of customs supervision, innovating models, and facilitating public information resources.

Sheng Chong, Deputy Director of the Foreign Trade Development Department of the Department of Commerce of Jilin Province, stated that as an important window for opening up to the outside world in Northeast China, Liaoning Port has always been the main maritime hub for Jilin to carry out overseas trade, with goods entering and exiting through various ports of Liaoning Port accounting for more than 80% of Jilin's total maritime cargo. After this signing, we will accelerate the establishment of an international logistics platform company to provide comprehensive, full process, high-quality and efficient road, railway, and sea transportation services for Jilin enterprises, helping them further reduce costs and improve efficiency.

In 2021, the normal operation of the Changchun Dalian sea rail intermodal freight trains has achieved seamless connection between railway trains and port sea freight, providing a convenient and fast sea rail intermodal transportation channel for import and export enterprises in Changchun and its surrounding areas. With the signing of the strategic cooperation framework agreement mentioned above, the Changchun Dalian train will be upgraded to a scheduled train.

Wang Yue, Chairman of Changchun International Land Port Development Co., Ltd., introduced that currently, the Changchun Dalian freight train has shortened the efficiency of cargo collection and transportation from the initial about 3 days to about 17 hours. From the perspective of railway transportation, this can be comparable to land transportation, and the cost is much cheaper compared to land transportation.

As of the end of 2023, about 1/4 of the total sea rail intermodal cargo from Jilin to Liaoning Port will pass through Changchun International Land Port. After the establishment of the international logistics platform company, the strategic goal of "two ports as one port" will be achieved. Simply put, goods entering Changchun International Land Port are equivalent to entering Dalian Port, which not only improves transportation efficiency but also helps to reduce logistics risks in the Northeast region.Editor/Zhao E
