The spring breeze is warm, and the sunshine covers the earth. The Xi'an International Port Station is bustling and extraordinary. On March 26, 2024, accompanied by a loud whistle, the X387 container multimodal transport train loaded with express e-commerce goods slowly started, embarking on a journey to Sanping Station in Urumqi. This is not only an ordinary freight train, but also the first express e-commerce "public to rail" container multi link express train nationwide, marking an important innovation in China's logistics transportation mode.

The express e-commerce train launched this time is a point-to-point express train from Xi'an to Urumqi, with no stops on the way.

In the future, the train will operate normally, adopting a multi unit express train organization model of "mainline railway trains+centralized distribution at both ends", implementing passenger train operation, with one train per day. To ensure the smooth operation of the train, China Railway Xi'an Bureau Group Co., Ltd. will optimize the train transportation plan, timely allocate empty containers and cars, improve transportation efficiency, and strengthen docking with Lanzhou Bureau and Urumqi Bureau. The entire process of train transportation will be closely monitored to ensure the efficiency and safety of train operation.

In addition, the X387 express e-commerce train adopts the Beidou positioning system for the first time, providing customers with real-time tracking of cargo transportation trajectories, further enhancing the user experience of container multimodal and rapid transportation.

Compared with the road transportation from Xi'an to Urumqi, the "transit to rail" mode significantly improves transportation efficiency, reducing the total transportation time from 45 hours to 38 hours, and reducing the transportation cost of goods by up to 57%. This transformation has not only brought about a dual improvement in cost-effectiveness for express e-commerce enterprises, but also opened up an efficient and convenient new channel for the transportation of domestic express e-commerce goods, effectively promoting the sustainable development of the industry.

It carries the expectations and hopes of the express delivery e-commerce industry, and also indicates that China has taken solid steps in the development of multimodal transportation. Editor/Zhao E
