Since the successful opening of water in 2014, the East Middle Route of the South to North Water Diversion Project has cumulatively diverted over an astonishing 70 billion cubic meters of water, which is almost equivalent to the total flow of the Yellow River for one and a half years. This magnificent project not only nourishes more than 40 large and medium-sized cities in 7 provinces and cities along the route, but also benefits over 176 million people. This unprecedented super project undoubtedly created a towering monument belonging to China in the history of human water management.

On April 3rd, China Energy Engineering Corporation Gezhouba Group successfully won the 7th bid for the civil construction and metal structure mechanical and electrical installation of the South to North Water Diversion Middle Route Diversion Project, with a winning amount of 2.733 billion yuan. The project is scheduled to be fully completed by 2031. This is the second time since ten years ago that China Energy Engineering Corporation has joined hands with the South to North Water Diversion Project, continuing to write a brilliant chapter.

As a follow-up water source project of the South to North Water Diversion Project, the Yangtze River Diversion Project is a key landmark project in the construction of the main framework of the national water network. The project is expected to have a total static investment of 55.158 billion yuan, demonstrating its enormous scale and importance. The total length of the water transmission line is 194.7 kilometers, with the tunnel section accounting for the vast majority, reaching approximately 193.9 kilometers, making it one of the largest and most technically challenging pressurized water transmission tunnels in China. After the completion of the project, it is expected that the average annual water diversion will reach 3.9 billion cubic meters, providing strong support for alleviating the shortage of water resources in the north and promoting regional balanced development.

As of March 18, 2024, the East Middle Line of the South to North Water Diversion Project has cumulatively transferred over 70 billion cubic meters of water. This huge figure not only demonstrates the scale and effectiveness of the project, but also directly benefits more than 40 large and medium-sized cities in 7 provinces and cities along the route, benefiting over 176 million people. As the national team and main force of water conservancy and hydropower construction, China Energy Construction Gezhouba Group was born and prospered due to water. With outstanding engineering construction capabilities, we have undertaken 70 projects in this world's largest, longest distance, most benefited population, and most widely benefited water diversion project. We have built key projects such as the Danjiangkou Dam, the Yellow River Crossing Tunnel, and the Caohe Ferry. We have accumulated rich experience in hydraulic tunnel construction through TBM shield tunneling, efficient mechanical configuration, advanced geological prediction, prevention and control of unfavorable geological bodies, and efficient blasting. We have trained and reserved a large number of professional and technical talents, making sufficient preparations for the high-quality promotion of the subsequent construction of the South to North Water Diversion Project.
