The reporter learned from China Petroleum today (April 10) that the construction of the natural gas pipeline project around the Tarim Basin has been fully started in Xinjiang, and the project will build 2,108 kilometers of new natural gas pipelines in batch, creating a major energy channel around the Tarim Basin, and helping Xinjiang's high-quality economic development with clean energy.

The construction of the natural gas pipeline project around the Tarim Basin was officially started in Kuqa City, Xinjiang, and the project plan was implemented in three batches. At present, the first batch of projects under construction has a total length of 616 kilometers, and the designed gas supply scale of the pipeline is 11 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, which is promoted by two roads, and is planned to be fully completed by 2025.

Chang Guichuan, Head of Oil and Gas Distribution and Marketing Department, Tarim Oilfield, petrochina: After the completion of the first batch of projects, the natural gas pipeline network will be connected to nine counties and cities in Kashgar, Aksu, Bazhou and other prefectures, and the maximum daily gas supply capacity will be increased from the current 27 million cubic meters to 58 million cubic meters, realizing the new pipeline and the Southern Xinjiang Natural Gas Project and other existing gas supply pipelines, benefiting nearly 10 million people of all ethnic groups.

According to the project construction plan, after the completion of the first batch of projects, the construction of Kashgar, Hotan and other pipelines will be started in due course. We will promote the establishment of a ring network of gas supply around the Tarim Basin to create a strong engine for economic development.

The natural gas pipeline project around Tarim Basin is an important part of the Southern and northern Xinjiang pipeline expansion project, with a total length of nearly 5,000 kilometers. Once completed, the project will benefit 11 million people in 24 counties and cities in northern and southern Xinjiang and 52 Corps farms of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, which is of great significance to promoting Xinjiang's economic and social development, improving people's livelihood and protecting the ecological environment.
