On April 12, 2024, a grand event focusing on the high-quality development of the modern industrial chain of hydrogen energy application was held by Sinopec in Wuhan, Hubei Province. At the meeting, the Sinopec Hydrogen Equipment Manufacturing Base was officially unveiled. With the theme of hydrogen loaded future and carbon benefiting the world, the conference brought together many experts and scholars in the industry to discuss how to build the core chain, grasp the development trend of green hydrogen green ammonia and prevent major risks in the industrial chain, gather the wisdom and strength of the whole industrial chain, and promote the development of China's modern hydrogen energy application industrial chain to higher quality.

Ma Yongsheng, chairman of Sinopec, pointed out that the hydrogen energy industry is not only a key development area of China's emerging industries and future industries, but also one of the important directions to promote the development of new quality productivity, with broad development prospects and huge potential.

Since the founding meeting of the Promotion Committee and the Expert Advisory Committee was held in 2023, Sinopec has actively invested in various key tasks and made a series of remarkable progress and results. Positive progress has been made in strengthening main body support and promoting industrial integration. The research and development and manufacturing capacity of domestic key hydrogen energy equipment continues to improve, especially the manufacturing cost of core equipment such as electrolyzer has been reduced by about 30%, and the number of suppliers has also increased significantly, reaching more than 300. The cost of fuel cell systems has been significantly reduced by nearly 80% compared to 2020, which demonstrates Sinopec's outstanding strength in the field of hydrogen energy industry.

Sinopec Machinery has built 4,400 square meters of hydrogen energy equipment production and test workshop (Phase I), with hydrogen energy equipment manufacturing, system integration and quality assurance capabilities, with 4 production assembly and test units, with an annual production capacity of 100 units and a maximum test pressure of 105 mpa high pressure gas equipment comprehensive test center. The second phase of the project will focus on building hydrogen compressor assembly plant, PEM electrolytic cell assembly plant, comprehensive integrated assembly plant, hydrogen production equipment test and inspection line, compressor test and inspection line, pressure seal test and inspection line, to accelerate the construction of an independent, controllable and competitive hydrogen energy equipment manufacturing base, and help China's hydrogen energy equipment sustainable development.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
