Recently, the site selection work of Lanling General Airport finally received formal approval from the East China Civil Aviation Administration. This important progress marks a major breakthrough in the preliminary work of the project and laid a solid foundation for subsequent construction.

It is reported that the Lanling General Airport is located near Xiegou Village, the intersection of Luzha Town and Bianzhuang Street in Lanling County. The straight-line distance from the central city of Lanling County is about 7.7 kilometers. It has a superior geographical location and convenient transportation.

The airport is planned to be a Category A1 general airport and plans to build a non-instrument runway 800 meters long and 30 meters wide. The main business of the airport will cover industrial, agricultural and forestry operations, aerial tours, flight training and emergency rescue. It will also take care of short-distance transportation, aircraft maintenance and custody, aviation education and research and other services, with comprehensive and diversified functions.

The start of the site selection work can be traced back to March 2022. After a series of rigorous field surveys, program comparisons, expert demonstrations and solicitation of opinions, Xiegou Village was finally determined as the airport construction site. From November 23 to 24, 2023, the project site selection review meeting was successfully held, further promoting the airport construction process.

As one of the second batch of four general airports planned and constructed in Linyi City, the construction of Lanling General Airport not only responds to the city’s plan to build a general airport cluster covering the city, radiating southern Shandong, and serving the entire province, but also helps to build the three networks A comprehensive three-dimensional transportation pattern with two circles and two hubs.
