On April 15, 2024, a 1000kV main transformer weighing 370 tons, a special transport vehicle supported by 144 steering wheels, was slowly transferred from the on-site disintegration and assembly plant of the Ganzi Substation of the Sichuan and Chongqing UHV Project, marking the completion of the world's first high-altitude UHV disintegration transformer on-site assembly. This is the world's first large-scale application of UHV main transformer disassembly technology.

It is understood that Ganzi station substation is the starting point of Sichuan-Chongqing UHV AC project to consume clean energy in western Sichuan, located in Xindu Bridge Town on the western Sichuan Plateau, 3450 meters above sea level. Engineering construction is faced with the triple challenges of high altitude, repeated ice and high seismic intensity. On March 1, the first UHV unit of Ganzi Station officially began assembly at the site. It took 45 days to complete a number of complex processes such as iron core, coil, drying, and final assembly. Under the witness of on-site supervision, the on-site assembly task was finally completed. With the completion of the assembly of the first UHV disintegrator, the UHV Construction branch of the State Grid Co., Ltd. immediately organized the handover and acceptance and carried out the installation work on the basic platform. The next step will continue to organize the on-site assembly and supervision of the subsequent 6 UHV disintegrators on the site, and fully ensure the production of the Chuanyu UHV AC project on schedule.

It is reported that after the project is completed and put into operation, the voltage level of the main grid of China's southwest power grid will be raised from 500 kV to 1000 kV, and it will transport about 12 billion degrees of clean electric energy every year, effectively undertaking electric energy from the northwest, Xizang and other places, and greatly improving the overall power security capacity of the Chengdu-Chongqing area Shuangcheng economic circle.
