[Kazakhstan has signed a deal with Russia to build seral coal-fired power plants] Kazakhstan has signed an intergovernmental agreement with Russia to build coal-fired power plants in three Kazakh capitals, according to the press service of the Ministry of Energy. "The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation signed a cooperation agreement on the construction of coal-fired power plant projects in the cities of Kirkshetak, Semyi and Ustykamenogorsk," the press release said. "Considering the abundant thermal coal reserves, the implementation of coal-fired power plant projects in the three capitals will be a strong driver of urban development," Kazakh Energy Minister Almazadem Satkaliyev said.
