The construction of the 30 million ton beneficiation plant project for Sierra Leone's New Tangkri primary magnetite ore has officially begun recently. This major project, undertaken by China Railway First Bureau, marks another important layout for China in the mining industry in Africa. The total project duration is 16 months, and its construction site is located in the Tangkrili mining area in the northern province of Sierra Leone, a place full of challenges and opportunities.

The core task of this project is to build a series of facilities, including a coarse crushing station, a coarse ore storage yard, a medium and fine crushing workshop, etc. These facilities will provide strong support for the efficient operation of the beneficiation plant. At the same time, the project will also be equipped with advanced electrical and automation pipelines to ensure the intelligence and automation level of the production process.

The scale of the project is remarkable, with an excavation volume of about 570200 cubic meters, a filling volume of about 301900 cubic meters, a concrete consumption of about 15000 cubic meters, and a building steel structure of about 6000 tons. To ensure the smooth progress of the project, the project department was established as early as February 2024 and successfully organized Chinese management personnel and Serbian operators to enter the site for work.
