On April 18, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony of the 500,000-ton green methanol project of Goldwind Technology's Xing'an League wind power coupling was held in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, marking the official entry into construction of the world's largest new energy chemical project for wind power hydrogen production and green methanol production. stage.

The project covers a total area of more than 1,800 acres. Once completed and put into operation, the project will produce 500,000 tons of green methanol annually. It will become a modern green methanol manufacturing base with leading technology, complete equipment and significant benefits.

In recent years, "green shipping" has become the transformation goal of the global shipping industry, and green methanol is becoming a key support for this goal. The carbon emissions during its production and use are extremely low, and it can be used directly as a clean fuel. It can also be used as a hydrogen energy carrier to solve the problem of hydrogen energy storage and transportation. DNV (Det Norske Veritas) Alternative Fuels Insight (AFI) data platform statistics indicate that in January this year, there were as many as 23 orders for new methanol-fueled ships, while only 10 LNG-powered ships were ordered. According to COSCO Shipping, the demand for green methanol in the shipping industry will reach 100 million tons in 2030, but the current global production capacity is far from meeting this demand.

Against this background, Goldwind Technology is actively working with industry partners to expand green methanol production capacity based on its advantages in renewable energy business. In November 2023, Goldwind Technology and world shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk signed a long-term green methanol purchase agreement with an annual output of 500,000 tons to support Maersk's first batch of 12 large methanol dual-power ships to achieve low-carbon operations. It is expected that The first production will be achieved in 2026. The agreement is the first large-scale green methanol purchase agreement in the global shipping industry and will be valid until after 2030. The methanol production in the agreement includes green biomass methanol and electricity-produced methanol, which will be produced at Goldwind Technology Xing'an League Wind Power Coupled Production 500,000-ton Green Methanol Project, achieving a "green closed loop" of using green electricity to produce green fuel and supporting the development of green shipping.Editor/Zhao E
