Recently, France's Wanxi Group won the design and construction contract for an expansion project of a water treatment plant in Cambodia. The project has a duration of 36 months and is worth 94 million euros.
The water treatment plant is located in Bakun County in the northern part of the capital Phnom Penh and has currently provided water to approximately 2 million people.

In this project, Wan Xi will be responsible for designing and constructing the expansion project of the water treatment plant. At that time, a new raw water intake will be built at the nearby Mekong River, and a new water transmission pipeline with a daily processing capacity of 195000 cubic meters will be built. It is expected to be put into operation in 2028. The expansion project is expected to provide drinking water for approximately 750000 people in Bakun County. Keywords: the Belt and Road news, the Belt and Road project, overseas project.
From an environmental perspective, Wanxi has chosen concrete with carbon emissions 30% lower than local standards and deployed an innovative solution developed by its subsidiary, WMI, to regulate the water consumption at construction sites. In addition, Wanxi will construct a photovoltaic array consisting of 3500 panels (approximately 9000 square meters) to provide 15% of the electricity demand for the water treatment plant.
