On August 11, 2024, the UETCL 132 kV Lot2&Lot3 substation project, jointly contracted by China Energy Construction Central South Institute, was fully completed and successfully put into operation. This project is not only the largest power transmission and transformation project put into operation in Uganda, but also a landmark project for the first access to the national main power grid in its northern region.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni personally unveiled the Nebbi 132 kV substation, spoke highly of the high-quality construction of the project, and fully recognized the strength of China Energy Construction. President Museveni pointed out that the successful commissioning of the project has completely ended the long-term history of power shortage in northern Uganda, brought stable and reliable power supply to local people, and has far-reaching significance for improving people's livelihood and promoting economic development.

As the first World Bank financing project obtained by China Energy Construction Central South Institute through international bidding, this project demonstrates the company's strong strength and competitiveness in the field of international power construction. The project built a total of 4 substations and connecting lines in Kole, Gulu, Nebbi and Arua in northern Uganda, effectively improving the power supply capacity in the region and injecting strong impetus into local economic and social development.

With the successful commissioning of the UETCL 132 kV Lot2 & Lot3 substation project, Uganda's national power supply system has been further improved, and the power supply problem in the northern region has been effectively alleviated. This achievement is not only another fruitful result of the cooperation between China and Uganda in the field of electricity, but also lays a more solid foundation for future cooperation between the two countries.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
