Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone, as the main battlefield and central urban area of Dongying City's economic development, has actively responded to the national "dual carbon" goal in recent years and is committed to promoting green, low-carbon and high-quality development. Geothermal energy, as a clean, stable, and renewable energy source, has the advantage of being unaffected by natural conditions such as seasons, day and night, and climate, making it an ideal choice to replace fossil fuel heating systems. The commencement of this project is not only an exploration of efficient development and utilization of geothermal resources, but also an important measure for the development zone to achieve low-carbon transformation of energy structure and energy conservation and emission reduction in the heating industry.

This project is currently the largest single area geothermal heating project in Shandong Province, with a total investment of 580 million yuan. The project plans to construct four mid to deep geothermal energy stations on Dengzhou Road, Jinhua, Dongfeng, and Fengshou, with a total heating area of 14.8 million square meters. It is expected to be fully completed by 2025. This scale will make the project the largest geothermal energy utilization demonstration project with the largest single heating area and the highest carbon emission reduction in the province and even the country, with the ability to achieve full coverage of clean heating in urban areas.

At the technical level, the project has adopted multiple innovative technologies. Firstly, the "heat extraction without water consumption+pressure free reinjection" technology overcomes the global challenge of sandstone reinjection and achieves sustainable utilization of geothermal energy. Secondly, the project has introduced an intelligent digital monitoring platform to achieve precise heating and promote energy conservation and emission reduction. In terms of implementation, the project effectively reduces land occupation and promotes the large-scale utilization of mid to deep geothermal energy through centralized drilling and directional drilling layered development technology on cluster well platforms.

The implementation of the project will bring significant economic and social benefits. From the perspective of economic benefits, the project can reduce the consumption of standard coal by 69000 tons per year, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 170000 tons, sulfide emissions by 589 tons, and nitrogen oxide emissions by 510 tons. This will significantly reduce heating costs and improve energy utilization efficiency. From the perspective of social benefits, the project will provide stable and reliable winter green and clean energy heating for residents in the development zone, improve their living environment, and enhance their quality of life. At the same time, the implementation of the project will also promote the development and utilization of geothermal energy and the industrialization of "geothermal energy+", injecting new impetus into the development of the new energy industry in the development zone.
