According to KTZ, the national railway company of Kazakhstan, by 2030, more than 180 stations will be modernized to increase transportation capacity. This plan aims to address the growing domestic demand for passenger and freight transportation in Kazakhstan, while increasing cross-border railway capacity and enhancing Kazakhstan's strategic position in the Eurasian logistics network. KTZ stated that considering the increasing demand for passenger and freight transportation, as well as the growth in transit freight volume, in addition to building new railway lines, they also plan to enhance the traffic and processing capacity of over 180 railway stations. Additional sidings, arrival and departure tracks, and dispatch ramps will be constructed, existing tracks will be extended, and previously dismantled tracks will be restored.
Since early 2024, KTZ has been coordinating and registering additional land, obtaining permits for related design and survey work, and obtaining consent from authorized agencies.
