On August 29, 2024, Inner Mongolia Saisipu Technology Co., Ltd.'s 600000 tons/year hydrogen based smelting reduction method high-purity cast pig iron technology upgrade project was approved for filing.

The project is located in Haibowan District, Wuhai City, with a total investment of 486.2815 million yuan. The planned construction period is from September 2024 to September 2026. On the basis of the 300000 tons/year smelting reduction method high-purity cast pig iron pilot project, this project will undergo technological upgrades to improve the continuity and stability of project production caused by certain design defects in supporting auxiliary equipment. Technical upgrades will be carried out for the raw fuel supply system, feeding and balling system, coal powder and mineral powder injection system, waste heat recovery and gas purification, oxygen production and air compressor system that affect the operating rate, desulfurization and slag removal system in the iron yard, cast iron machine system, product inspection inventory system that affect product quality, as well as the hydrogen rich gas injection system that affects the increase of hydrogen injection volume. After technological upgrading and transformation, the maximum annual production capacity can reach 600000 tons per year. Significant increase in production capacity injects strong impetus into regional economic development.
