On Thursday, March 6, in Rabat, the Steering Committee of the “Offre Maroc” Initiative chaired by Aziz Akhennouch, held a meeting at which five domestic and foreign investors were selected to implement six major hydrogen energy projects, with a total investment of up to Dh319 billion, equivalent to approximately RMB 237 billion.
Among them, a consortium composed of China Three Gorges Group and United Energy Group (UEG) will be responsible for the production of green ammonia.
The Morocco hydrogen energy project is divided into six sub-projects, covering the fields of ammonia, industrial fuel and green steel production, and has successfully attracted five major international consortiums from the United States, Spain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and China to actively participate. After a strict screening process, Sanxia Group and United Energy won the competition for the synthesis of ammonia projects.
As a giant in China's clean energy field, Sanxia Group has made in-depth arrangements in hydrogen energy projects and technologies early on. From hydrogen production equipment, to integrated integration of wind, light, hydrogen storage, and then to chlorammonia synthesis technology, hydrogen storage and transportation, and even hydrogen energy ships, the Three Gorges Group has fully possessed the technological advantages of the entire industrial chain.
Morocco's hydrogen energy strategy has ushered in a new upgrade, and land policy has become a key factor. According to the relevant agreement, the Moroccan government will provide up to 30,000 hectares of land for each project to build photovoltaic/wind power bases, electrolytic plants and ammonia synthesis facilities.
The winning project is located in the sunny Tafilalet area in the south. It is expected that the annual power generation hours in the region will exceed 3,200 hours, which can provide stable and reliable power guarantee for green hydrogen production.
From the perspective of project layout, the Three Gorges-UEG Consortium will build a synthetic ammonia project responsible for, with an annual output of 500,000 tons of chlorammonia, and the products produced will be exported to Europe through Tangier Port.
As for other international consortiums, American Ortus, Spanish Acciona and other companies will simultaneously promote ammonia production and industrial fuel projects, while Saudi Acwa Power focuses on green steel projects.
This cooperation can be regarded as another major breakthrough in the field of hydrogen energy in the Three Gorges Group. Its core technology has been successfully applied in China's first 10,000-ton green hydrogen project - the Narisong photovoltaic hydrogen production industry demonstration project built in Junggar Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia. The project is planned to expand production from 10,000 tons of green hydrogen to 20,000 tons.

The bid of Sanxia Group is successful this time and is expected to bring a large number of orders to domestic hydrogen energy equipment companies.(This article is from the official website of Seetao.com, www.seetao.com.
