The commencement ceremony of Istanbul Airport Line Metro Localization Manufacturing Project was held in Ankara, Türkiye. This is the first time that the driverless subway project with a speed of 120km/h undertaken by CRRC has been started overseas, and it is also the first driverless subway project in Türkiye, marking the start of localized manufacturing of the fastest subway train in Türkiye. The Istanbul Airport Line subway train was developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. It has a maximum operating speed of 120 kilometers per hour, uses a 4-car formation, and a maximum passenger capacity of 1100 people. The first phase of 10 trains was put into operation on January 22, 2023. The second phase is the localization manufacturing project of unmanned subway, with a total of 15 trains.

At the commencement ceremony, 13 local enterprises signed localization purchase agreements with CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Türkiye. It is reported that the localization rate of this localization manufacturing project of driverless metro is required to reach 60%. At present, localization procurement of car body, hood, seat, passenger information system and other parts has been signed to promote the development of Türkiye's rail transit industry chain.
