Zhoushan 500kV Interconnected Power Transmission and Transformation Project is an important energy guarantee for the implementation of national major strategies, and a key infrastructure to serve the the Belt and Road Initiative and the high-quality development of Yangtze River Delta integration. As the largest and most technically challenging 500kV cross sea interconnection project in the history of China's power grid construction, its technical level represents the top level in the current world's ultra-high voltage offshore transmission field.

After the completion of the project, it completely ended the history of Zhoushan without a 500kV backbone network, greatly enhanced the disaster resistance and safety stability of the power grid, effectively met the growing electricity demand of Zhoushan Archipelago New Area and Free Trade Zone, and provided solid power guarantee for Zhoushan to build a leading zone for Zhejiang's marine economic development and a comprehensive marine development experimental zone. It has profound significance for national energy security and green sustainable development.
The main content of the project includes the construction of two 500kV substations with an additional substation capacity of 3 million kVA; 218 kilometers of newly built overhead power lines (converted), including 37 kilometers of large-span sections (converted); Laying 17 kilometers of submarine cables, with a total investment of approximately 4.62 billion yuan.
