On September 23, 2024, on the sidelines of the Future Summit in New York, Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a brief but meaningful meeting with IOC President Thomas Bach. During the talks, President Bach expressed his deep gratitude to China for its long-term and firm support to the IOC and the Olympic cause, and expressed the hope that the two sides can continue to deepen cooperation and work together.

Minister Wang Yi spoke highly of President Bach's outstanding contributions to the development of the international Olympic Movement, and reaffirmed his continued support for the work of the IOC on behalf of the Chinese government. He stressed that China is willing to work with other countries to enhance mutual understanding and friendship and jointly promote world peace and development through the Olympic Games as a global platform.

In addition, during the exchange session of the summit, Minister Wang Yi also had friendly and in-depth exchanges with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Nultreu, Foreign Minister Retno of Indonesia, Foreign Minister Zhantesk of Nicaragua, and former Foreign Minister of Belarus and current Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament Aleynik, and exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.Editor/Jiang Mingyue
