On January 20, 2025, UAE energy giant Masdar officially announced that it has been selected as the preferred battery storage system supplier for the UAE RTC project, the world's largest solar and battery joint energy storage project. This milestone collaboration marks another major breakthrough for Masdar in the field of green energy.
The RTC project, as the world's largest integrated solar and battery energy storage system to date, has a grand scale with a total investment of over 6 billion US dollars. The project covers a total of 19 gigawatt hours (GWh) of battery energy storage capacity and 5.2 gigawatts (GW) of photovoltaic power generation capacity, opening a new chapter in global all-weather large-scale power generation projects. The achievement of this feat means that the project can continuously output 1 gigawatt (GW) of electricity 24 hours a day, providing stable and reliable green energy supply for the world's first green data center integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and zero emission concepts.
In this collaboration, Masdar teamed up with CATL, a global leader in energy storage equipment, to provide advanced energy storage solutions for the RTC project. CATL will supply its iconic Tianheng battery energy storage system, which perfectly meets the strict requirements of the RTC project for efficient and reliable energy storage solutions with excellent safety, long service life, and highly integrated technological advantages.
This cooperation not only demonstrates CATL's leading position in the global energy storage technology field, but also marks the company's solid steps in the field of large-scale data center energy storage technology solutions, officially entering the ranks of industry leaders. The strong alliance between Masdar and CATL injects strong momentum into the global energy transition and sustainable development, jointly promoting the vigorous development of green energy.(This article is from the official website of Jian Dao www.seetao.com.
