The launch ceremony of the construction of the Lao section of the China-Laos 500 kV networking project was held in Vientiane, the capital of Laos on the 26th. After the project is completed, it will greatly improve the power mutual communication between China and Laos.
Chinese Ambassador to Laos Fang Hong said that the project is another major achievement of China and Laos deepening pragmatic cooperation and jointly building the "Belt and Road" after the China-Laos Railway. As the "pioneer" of economic and social development, electricity is a key support for improving people's livelihood and promoting regional prosperity. We must continue to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and two countries, take the construction of the China-Laos Economic Corridor as the main axis, and continue to deepen cooperation in the energy and power fields of both sides with power grid interconnection.
The China-Laos 500 kV networking project is a major engineering project included in the China-Laos Community of Shared Future Action Plan and is scheduled to be completed and put into production in 2026. By then, the two-way power mutual assistance capacity of China-Laos is expected to reach 1.5 million kilowatts, achieving a clean power transmission scale of about 3 billion kilowatt hours.According to reports, the Lao section and China section of the China-Laos 500 kV networking project are invested and constructed by Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation (EDL-T) and China Southern Power Grid Corporation respectively. The project will build a new 500 kV substation in Laos, connecting Namo, Udomsa, Laos and Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, China through a 183.5-kilometer cross-border transmission line. It is also planned to build two 230 kV lines to connect the backbone network in northern Laos. After it is put into operation, it will effectively help Laos develop into the Lancang-Mekong Regional Clean Energy Interconnection Center.(This article is from the official website of Seetao.com, www.seetao.com.
