On April 25, 2025, with the completion of the paving of the last layer of asphalt, the cross-sea bridge on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi was officially connected, marking the full completion of the main project of this key transportation route connecting the Shams and Tamouh areas and the transition to the construction stage of ancillary projects. As the first EPC general contracting project won by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in the UAE market, the 365-meter-long cross-sea bridge on Reem Island is a key infrastructure of the new city development plan in Abu Dhabi. After its completion, it will significantly optimize the regional road network and enhance the comprehensive functions of the surrounding business and residential areas.

During the construction process, the project team directly faced strict international construction standards and technical challenges, and drove cost reduction and efficiency improvement through innovation. In response to the problem of large-scale dredging and high costs required for barge construction in the original plan, the team, through multiple rounds of technical demonstrations and consultations with the employer, successfully optimized the construction plan, not only saving 90 days of the construction period but also greatly reducing the construction cost. Facing the technical bottleneck of the connection of the steel reinforcement cages of the pile foundations, the technical team independently developed a new connection process, reducing the material cost to 5% of that of the original plan and shortening the construction period by 16 days. In the procurement of bearings, through two months of continuous negotiations, the localized procurement plan was implemented, advancing the production cycle of prefabricated beams by two months.
