On April 22, during the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China, an important energy cooperation agreement was officially reached. Azerbaijan, as a key hub in Eurasia, enjoys a unique geographical location. The offshore wind power project of this cooperation is located in the offshore area of the Absheron Peninsula where Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is situated. This region has excellent wind resource endowments. Along the 100-kilometer-long coastline, the average sea depth is about 50 meters, and the geological conditions are suitable, providing ideal natural conditions for the development of offshore wind power. The project is planned to be jointly developed by PowerChina Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan in the BOO (Build-Own-Operate) mode.
