Malaysia's leading digital services company (MYEG) has signed an agreement with China's Guangxi Beitou Xinchuang Technology Investment Group Co., Ltd. (Beitou Xinchuang) to jointly establish the Malaysia-China Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Cooperation Centre as the flagship project of the ASEAN-China AI Lab, aiming to realise the vision of cooperation between Malaysia and the Chinese government in the field of artificial intelligence. Representatives of the Chinese mainland government and the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, witnessed the signing of this important agreement.

In conjunction with the signing of the Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on Artificial Intelligence Development between China and Malaysia, MYEG has joined hands with Beitou Information Innovation, a wholly-owned state-owned enterprise of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government, to establish a unique intergovernmental (G2G) laboratory. The lab brings together top AI companies from China and ASEAN to work together to develop localized AI products and promote cross-border application practices.

The MYEG-led AI Lab will bring together leading companies in various fields, including China's Deepseek, leading companies in drones and robotics, DJI, Leju Robot, Huawei Technologies, Alibaba Group, and Heitech Padu Berhad, a Malaysian technology (IT) service provider.

Located at MYEG's headquarters in Petaling Jaya, the AI Lab will focus on the integrated development of blockchain, generative AI and robotics, with a focus on driving innovative practices for cross-border applications and tailoring AI services to local culture and values. The first service to be launched is the National Mutual Recognition of Digital Identity, which will be launched in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. At that time, Malaysian citizens can use MyDigital ID in Guangxi for various types of identity verification, especially for customer identification (KYC) of financial institutions and entry verification of tourist attractions; At the same time, the digital identity of Chinese citizens will also be recognized in Malaysia for identity verification.

In order to promote the tangible results of this cooperation, the Guangxi Autonomous Region Government has set up an investment fund totaling 10 billion yuan to serve as a start-up fund for the development of relevant projects under the China-ASEAN Cooperation Plan.

MYEG has established exclusive partnerships with a number of key government agencies and related entities in China, including the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and the General Administration of Customs of China, to establish its public underlying blockchain network service as the platform of choice to drive disruptive Web 3 and AI applications, revolutionizing the way cross-border transactions are conducted.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
