the supplementary agreement to the franchise contract for the Salvador Itaparica Cross Sea Bridge project in Brazil was officially signed in Brasilia. This super project, with a total length of 46.8 kilometers, is jointly constructed by China Civil Engineering and China Railway Construction Bridge Bureau under China Railway Construction Corporation. After completion, it will become the longest cross sea cable-stayed bridge in Latin America.

The project innovation adopts the world's deepest pile foundation and the first ultra long continuous rigid frame structure. The main bridge is a 12.4-kilometer cable-stayed bridge with a two-way six lane design. The bridge spans across the Bay of Santo Tomas, connecting the city of El Salvador with Itaparica Island, reducing travel time by 80% and expected to drive the upgrading of tourism, logistics and other industries along the route.

As a demonstration project linking the "the Belt and Road" and Brazil's "Accelerated Growth Plan", the bridge will reshape the urban pattern of the Bay Area of Bahia. Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao stated that this is a new milestone in infrastructure cooperation between China and Brazil, which will promote the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
