On July 12, 2025, the Office of the New Breakthrough Strategy for Mineral Exploration of the Ministry of Natural Resources released data showing that in the first half of 2025, 38 new mineral deposits were discovered nationwide, an increase of 31% compared to the same period last year, including 25 large and medium-sized mineral deposits. At present, the vast majority of mineral resources in China have completed the 14th Five Year Plan exploration target ahead of schedule, and their resource security capabilities have significantly improved.

Multiple breakthroughs have been made in the exploration of important mineral types: Heilongjiang Province has discovered its first large-scale uranium deposit; Xinglong County, Hebei Province has added 3.37 million tons of rubidium resources, which is a large-scale addition and further consolidates China's advantageous position in the rubidium mining field; Longhua County, Hebei Province has added 27000 tons of cobalt resources, reaching a large-scale scale; Songtao County, Guizhou Province has added 22.85 million tons of manganese resources, reaching a large-scale scale; Tekes County in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has added 81 tons of gold resources, with a total of nearly 100 tons identified, reaching a super large scale.

According to preliminary statistics, the investment in non oil and gas mineral exploration in China reached 6.993 billion yuan in the first half of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 23.9%, and the growth rate continued to expand. Among them, social capital investment was 3.359 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.2%, accounting for 48.0% of the total investment, indicating a significant increase in the enthusiasm of enterprises to participate in mineral exploration; The central and local governments invested 3.634 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.1%.

These achievements not only provide new opportunities for resource cooperation among countries along the the Belt and Road, but also provide a solid resource guarantee for China's high-quality economic and social development.
