On July 25, 2025, BYD Energy Storage and CCS Wuhan held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Pingshan, Shenzhen. Liu Dong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Wuhan Institute of Standards of China Classification Society, Wei Yingchun, Deputy Director of the Wuhan Institute of Standards of China Classification Society, Huang Chaoxia, Chief Technical Expert of Battery Ship of the Wuhan Institute of Standards of China Classification Society, Jiang Xinjun, Director of BYD Energy Storage New Application Product Line, Jiang Yufeng, Deputy Director of R&D Center, and Wang Hongbo, Sales Director, attended the event.

CCS Wuhan Institute is one of the core research institutions of China Classification Society, responsible for drafting and compiling relevant regulations for new energy ships in China, and is also an important participant in global maritime rules. BYD Energy Storage is a leading enterprise in the industry, focusing on the research and development, promotion, and application of energy storage systems and equipment. Its innovative new battery technology is widely used in diversified scenarios such as electric ships, electric forklifts, and industrial robots, providing solid support for global new energy applications.

This cooperation actively responds to the demand for green and intelligent transformation in the shipbuilding industry, aiming to jointly promote innovation in green ship technology standards. According to the agreement, both parties will fully leverage their core advantages, integrate their respective technology, market, investment, and platform resources, and work together to build a joint laboratory for battery powered ship safety research. The laboratory will conduct comprehensive cooperation on special research and safety testing certification of new power batteries, technological innovation of battery power systems, development of intelligent monitoring systems for shore based charging of battery powered ships, and formulation of industry technical standards, contributing to the sustainable development of the global shipping industry.Editor/Cheng Liting
