On July 27, 2025, PowerChina and Sonelgaz-EnR officially signed an EPC contract for the Beshar 154 MW photovoltaic power plant project, marking a new breakthrough in the field of renewable energy in Algeria and injecting new impetus into China-Arab energy cooperation.
Algeria is actively advancing its energy transition strategy to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, with plans to complete the development of 15 GW renewable energy projects by 2035. As an important part of the country's energy transition strategy, the signed Beshar photovoltaic power plant project will provide key support for the development of the local renewable energy industry after completion, which is of milestone significance.
Since entering the Algerian market in 2003, PowerChina has been deeply involved in the Algerian market for nearly 22 years, and has undertaken a total of 29 various engineering projects, covering water conservancy, irrigation, municipal, industrial and civil construction, grain storage and new energy. The signing of the Beshar photovoltaic project is not only a recognition of PowerChina's strength in the field of new energy, but also will further consolidate its deep cultivation achievements in the Algerian market, and contribute to the optimization of the local energy structure and the promotion of sustainable development.
