The bidding process for the Hongdong Daning Expressway project, a key transportation construction project in Shanxi Province, has recently come to a successful conclusion. Shanxi Fifth Construction Group Co., Ltd., as the leading unit, joined forces with Shanxi Second Construction Group Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Construction Eighth Construction Group Co., Ltd., Shanxi Mechanized Construction Group Co., Ltd., and Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd. to successfully win the bid, with a total bid amount of 11.80122 billion yuan.

The project spans Hongdong County, Yaodu District, Puxian County, and Daning County in Linfen City, Shanxi Province. The main line is 81.982 kilometers long and is constructed according to the standard of a two-way four lane expressway with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The project has significant bridge and tunnel characteristics, with a total of 76 bridges with a total length of 22020 meters and 9 tunnels with a total length of 10890 meters. The bridge tunnel ratio is as high as 40.14%. This includes one 4040 meter long tunnel and three 3372.5 meter long tunnels, making construction difficult.

The supporting engineering of the project will be improved, including the construction of 6 interchanges, 2 service areas, 4 ramp toll stations, and equipped with 1 management sub center, 1 law enforcement center, 1 tunnel management station, and 1 maintenance work area. In addition, it also includes a 2.421 km Puxian County connecting line, which is constructed according to the standard of second-class highway. The total land area of the project is 623.4199 hectares, including 589.8233 hectares of newly added land.

The relevant person in charge of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Transport stated that after the completion of the Hongda Expressway, it will effectively improve the regional transportation conditions in Linfen City, strengthen the economic connections between counties and districts along the route, promote the development of tourism resources and minerals, and have important significance for promoting high-quality development in southern Shanxi. It is expected that after the completion of the project, the travel time of residents along the route will be reduced by more than 40%.

The project leader of Shanxi Wujian Group Co., Ltd. introduced that the consortium will fully leverage the professional advantages of each member unit in the field of highway construction, adopt advanced construction technology and management methods, and ensure project quality and progress. The project plan adopts a digital construction management system to achieve full process quality monitoring and strive to create a new benchmark for highway construction in Shanxi Province.

Industry experts point out that the implementation of this project will drive the development of related industries such as building materials and logistics along the route, creating a large number of employment opportunities. According to calculations, during the construction period, more than 3000 job opportunities can be directly provided, indirectly driving employment of tens of thousands of people and playing a significant role in promoting regional economic development.
