Recently, Wuerhe Industrial Park in Karamay City, Xinjiang, successively released investment information on two major photovoltaic manufacturing projects, covering the field of high-efficiency solar cells and photovoltaic module manufacturing, with a total investment of 7 billion yuan, marking that the park is accelerating the construction of a complete photovoltaic industry chain from silicon chips to modules.

Among them, the project of producing 10GW of high-efficiency solar cells annually officially attracted external investment on September 8th. The project has a total investment of 5 billion yuan and is located in the Wuerhe Industrial Park. It is planned to be constructed in two phases. The project plans to build a new production plant, logistics warehouse, etc. with a total area of approximately 176000 square meters, and supporting facilities such as a power station, auxiliary warehouse, and comprehensive building with an area of approximately 61500 square meters. After completion, it will have an annual production capacity of 10 GW of high-efficiency solar cells (approximately 908 million pieces). According to investment information, the silicon wafers required for the project will be supplied by local enterprise Xinjiang Jingpin New Energy Co., Ltd., and auxiliary materials such as coated tempered glass and aluminum frames will be purchased through the market.

It is worth noting that Xinjiang Jingpin New Energy Co., Ltd. has made rapid progress since launching the 12GW high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon rod and wafer project in July 2022. The first phase of the 6GW monocrystalline pulling rod project has been put into operation in June 2023, with an investment of approximately 1.5 billion yuan; The second phase of the 6GW monocrystalline pull rod+silicon wafer project is underway, with an investment of approximately 2 billion yuan.

Subsequently, on September 11th, the park released another investment announcement for the annual production of 8GW photovoltaic modules project. The project has a total investment of 2 billion yuan and is also located in the Wuerhe Industrial Park. It plans to build new production plants and supporting buildings, and introduce advanced production equipment and research and development facilities. After completion, it can produce 8GW high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon battery modules annually. The main source of battery cells for the project is the aforementioned 10GW battery project, EVA、 Backboards, junction boxes, and other auxiliary materials are obtained through market procurement.
