In 2025, Sichuan Hualu Optoelectronics Group Co., Ltd. held a grand groundbreaking ceremony for the production and manufacturing of a 500MW/2000MWh all vanadium flow battery energy storage system in the chemical concentration area of Lama Huliang Industrial Park, Qitai County, Xinjiang. This marks the official entry of this major new energy storage project into the construction and implementation phase. The total investment of this project is 300 million yuan, with a construction period of one year. It is expected to be fully completed and put into operation in August 2026.
The project adopts a full industry chain layout model, from core materials such as ion membranes and electrolytes to stack production and system integration, achieving independent and controllable key technologies. The all vanadium flow battery has significant advantages such as high safety, long cycle life, and environmental friendliness. Its cycle life can reach 15000-16000 times and the service life can reach about 20 years, making it an ideal technology route for large-scale long-term energy storage.

The project covers a total area of 100 acres and has a total construction area of 30000 square meters. It will construct modern production workshops, office buildings, research and innovation bases, testing and research workshops, and control centers as supporting facilities. Through the application and practice of Hualu Optoelectronics Group's intelligent manufacturing and all vanadium liquid flow system integration technology, the project will also build a pilot platform for proton exchange membrane and all vanadium liquid flow electrolyte, injecting strong impetus into the development of new energy in the northwest region.
This project is a concrete practice of China's dual carbon strategy and Xinjiang's energy transformation, fully in line with policy guidance such as the 14th Five Year Plan for the development of new energy storage. After the completion of the project, it will effectively solve the volatility problem of renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaics, significantly improving the stability of the power grid and the ability to absorb new energy.
It is worth mentioning that Qitai County is vigorously promoting large-scale integrated wind solar hydrogen storage projects, which require the construction of a 450MW/1.8GWh energy storage system. The implementation of the Hualu Optoelectronics project will effectively meet the local energy storage needs, provide important support for the planning of the 23.423 million kilowatt new energy project in Qitai County, and have profound significance for promoting the high-quality development of the local new energy industry.
