On October 15, 2025, the first basalt fiber production plant in Kyrgyzstan, constructed by China Railway 25th Bureau, was officially laid in the capital city of Bishkek, witnessed by the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Akerbek Kassymayev. This project marks a crucial step for Kyrgyzstan in the field of high-performance new material manufacturing.

The factory is located in the Chuhe Oblast Industrial Zone of Bishkek, covering an area of 8 hectares with a total construction area of approximately 30000 square meters. The project is implemented by China Railway 25th Bureau in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) general contracting mode. The core equipment includes a kiln with an annual output of 5000 tons of basalt fiber, a supporting wire drawing machine, and an AGV automatic intelligent guidance system. Chinese standards are fully adopted from design, equipment to acceptance.

Basalt fiber is a high-performance material made from natural basalt, with a diameter only one-third of a human hair. Its performance is close to T300 grade carbon fiber, but its cost is only one tenth of carbon fiber. This material has excellent characteristics such as high strength, corrosion resistance, and green low-carbon, and can be widely used in fields such as construction, energy, and marine engineering.

As a core project of Kyrgyzstan's National Basalt Fiber and Materials Plan (2024-2030), the factory will form a complete industrial chain from raw material extraction to high value-added product production after completion, effectively reducing the country's dependence on imported steel and providing core driving force for industrial transformation.

This project has successfully opened a new channel for the strategic emerging industries of China Railway 25th Bureau to go to sea. It is a key practice for enterprises to transform from "engineering contractors" to "industrial partners", and has also injected new momentum into the high-quality joint construction of the the Belt and Road.
