Recently, China Everbright Environment Group successfully won the bid for two waste to energy projects in Fergana and Namangan, Uzbekistan, with a total investment of approximately 2 billion yuan. This is the first batch of environmental protection projects implemented by the group in Central Asia, marking an important breakthrough in China's environmental protection industry in the Central Asian market.

It is reported that the Fergana project has officially launched the bidding process for the design procurement construction general contracting on October 23rd. The current construction scale of this project is to process 1500 tons of household waste per day, and will be equipped with two 750 ton/day mechanical grate furnaces and one 45 MW steam turbine generator set. According to the bidding announcement, the total construction period of the project is set at 21 months, with plans to officially start construction on December 1, 2025 and complete the "72+24 hour" trial operation. The deadline for submitting bidding documents is 9:30 am on November 13, 2025.

The implementation of this important project benefited from the Central Asia Climate Forum in April 2025. During the conference, the Everbright Environment delegation had in-depth consultations with the Ministry of Investment and Industry Trade, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment Protection and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, ultimately leading to the successful implementation of the project. The design scale of the Fergana and Namangan projects is 1500 tons per day, which is an important layout of Everbright Environment's internationalization strategy in Central Asia.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the project, China Everbright International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Everbright Environment, has officially signed a shareholder agreement with independent third party Maxsus and China Railway 17th Bureau Second Engineering Company on October 16th. According to the agreement, all parties will jointly establish a project company, which will be fully responsible for the full lifecycle management of the project, including investment, design, construction, operation, and maintenance.

Industry experts point out that the implementation of these projects will significantly enhance Uzbekistan's urban solid waste disposal capacity and help the local area achieve waste resource utilization. At the same time, this is also an important practice of China's environmental protection technology and services going global, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent development of the Central Asian environmental protection market.
