Recently, the world's largest integrated solar storage project, the 5.2GW solar storage project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has officially laid the foundation. This project is jointly undertaken by China Electric Power Construction Group Co., Ltd., marking an important breakthrough in China's engineering and technological strength in the field of ultra large solar energy storage power stations, and setting a new benchmark for global energy transformation.
This major project located in the Abu Dhabi desert area covers an area of 90 square kilometers and has a total investment of over 22 billion dirhams (approximately 42.66 billion yuan). The project is jointly developed by Masdar, a clean energy company based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and EWEC, a water and electricity company based in the UAE. It is expected to be put into operation in 2027. After completion, it can reduce approximately 5.7 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually and create over 10000 job opportunities for the local area.

Of particular note is that the project adopts globally leading technological solutions, achieving stable output of clean energy through innovative technologies such as the "virtual power plant" model, artificial intelligence prediction system, and intelligent power distribution network. As the world's first renewable energy project capable of achieving "24/7 power supply", it will provide clean electricity for a 1GW base load for 24 hours, effectively solving the global problem of intermittent renewable energy.
It is understood that the project is divided into two blocks for construction, north and south. China Power Construction is responsible for the engineering construction of the north block, including the construction tasks of a 2.1GW photovoltaic power station and a 7.6GWh energy storage system. This cooperation fully demonstrates the technological strength and engineering capabilities of Chinese enterprises in the global clean energy field.
The launch of this project will not only effectively promote the implementation of the UAE's "2050 Energy Strategy", but also provide an important platform for China's advanced energy storage technology and engineering capabilities to go global. As the project progresses, PowerChina will work together with all parties to contribute to building a stable, low-carbon, and sustainable global energy system. Editor/Yang Beihua
